Q. What is Urban Youth Outreach?

A. Urban Youth Outreach reaches out as a light of hope and refuge to primarily urban, at-risk, unchurched youth and their families, using all resources available, to see these youth and their families come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, lived out in every dimension of their daily lives.

Q. When was this ministry organized?

A. Hallelujah Faith Ministries began early in the year 1983 and was chartered in September of 1985 as a non-for-profit religious corporation.  It is run by a board of directors who meet on a bimonthly basis with additional meetings as necessary.  The founder and director is Pastor Keith D. Vosler, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute.  Beginning in January of 2000, Urban Youth Outreach became a new part of Hallelujah Faith Ministries. 

Q. What type of communities does Urban Youth Outreach currently serve?

A. Urban Youth Outreach has sought by God’s grace to be a light of HOPE and REFUGE to urban, at risk, unsaved African American children, youth, and adults in high crime communities on the south side of Chicago, with a focus on the Englewood Community.  These urban communities are characterized by unemployment, crime, gang domination and intimidation.  With an excessively high drop-out rate from the school system providing little hope for decent jobs, an environment of hopelessness, frustration, and anger is created.  The community’s children are often undernourished, undisciplined, and unloved.  It is Satan’s stronghold, and the results of his activity are seen all too readily.  Satan does not yield his territory and his subjects easily- but he is not invincible.  We serve the risen Christ, the only One who can say, “All power is given unto me, in heaven and on earth.”  The joy and the excitement of ministering in the inner city is to see Christ’s victory in the lives of those who were without hope for this life or the life to come.
