Summer is right around the corner. Spring is here with days in the 60’s and occasionally in the 70’s, with young people coming out of the woodwork. In two weeks time over 120 different young people have come through the gates, over half of which are brand new to the ministry. During the first week of April three teams signed up to serve with us this summer. A couple donated a car and truck to the ministry for our use. God blesses over and over again and again. From the youth {to work with}, and the   teams to come alongside of us to do the work, then  to the vehicles and supplies for use in carrying out the work, God has been extremely good to us. We truly thank you for lifting us up to the throne of God and then coming alongside of us in many ways as a part of God’s blessing. You are a valuable part of the team here in reaching so many unchurched youth and young adults for Jesus Christ.

Daily Outreach

As we open the gates to the yard, to safety, to fellowship, to an ear, to word of encouragement to ourselves, to God’s Love we have already seen the young people respond. Most the young children hit the gates with a smile and are ready for interaction with us, while it takes hours and even days, many times longer to touch even one of the high school and college students. As we share God’s love and his redemptive power through the strength of the Holy Spirit we begin to see changes. We see a small smile. When something is done well they will look straight at us to get the affirmation they so much need—then a huge smile will follow. Occasionally, one of these older youth will come in and give us a big hug. What a change! The Bible tells us through out  that as ministers of the gospel, of which we all are, our job is to warn of sin, teach to turn from that sin, and to lead each individual God gives us straight to the cross, all done by the power of the Holy Spirit. When this is learned which is rather quickly, these students in turn begin to help teach, warn and guide the others and the new ones in the way of God’s word.  Again this is a huge change for many of these young people, For the younger ones they have not become that hardened yet that they have to rid themselves of much baggage. For those in 8th grade through college it is a matter of survival. Many have no one to protect them from the  dangers of the street, so they developed their own survival skills. Many have seen friends shot and or killed. Many have no mother that takes an active role in their lives and the father has never been seen. We have a society of boys raising themselves with no guidance from men in society except the occasional man that is drunk  or high, or the man on the corner trying to get them involved in the drug trade. The mom for all purposes takes her hands off of the boys at this age to let them fend for themselves. You did not hear me mention church, bible study or the Godly, for they are sadly non-existent. This is a void that affects every part of their lives. During the months of spring, we pray and seek for open doors in each of their lives to bring these young men and women of all ages to a place where we can reach a few for Jesus Christ. Even if only a few allow the Holy Spirit to change their life through Jesus Christ all hear of the good news and the need to turn to Him if they desire any fulfillment in life.
